Course Description

Chemistry at the Advanced College Preparatory level is a thorough investigation of theoretical and quantitative aspects of chemistry including, chemical bonding, atomic structure, stoichiometry, periodicity, kinetics, and equilibrium. Students are expected to perform the same laboratory experiments as Chemistry Honors and write lab reports with more teacher support. Reading is used primarily to reinforce concepts discussed in class. Students learn a variety of problem-solving strategies and are encouraged to do independent projects. Algebra skills are reviewed as needed. Nightly homework focuses on reviewing class notes, problem solving, and preparation for new material the following day.
